You Have The Power To Give Life

I donated blood this week in Winnipeg. It has been a couple years since my last donation, and I’m not giving any excuses, I should have gone sooner. For those of you who have donated blood in the past (or still donate), I salut you! If you have never donated blood before (fear of needles and/or blood, busy schedule, etc), no pressure, but I highly recommend that you give it a try at least once.

Donating blood has always been something important to me. My dad needed a life-saving transfusion when he was born, and my mom required multiple transfusions while she was battling cancer.

Give Blood

After I was done donating blood I sat down at the canteen area and was drinking a large mug of coffee. The mug said on it “you have the power to give life”. This is true, that blood donations are often used in life-saving scenarios. Without blood or oxygen, which is delivered to the body through blood, we die. As a chiropractor, I know that even more important than blood, is our brain. Without the brain telling the heart to contract and pump blood 24/7, or the spleen to make more blood, we would also die. It is the brain that controls the function of all the organs. As adults we often see the heart as the most important organ in our body, when actually we need to focus on the brain.

That’s why as chiropractors we are delivering specific adjustments to correct subluxation (spinal misalignments). We do this to increase the function of the nervous system and remove any interference. When you remove the interference your brain can communicate 100% of its intended messages to all of your organs, cells, and tissues, such as your heart and circulatory system.

In addition to taking care of our heart, we need to start taking care of, and begin focusing on the nervous system. We do have the power to give life, but the brain is life.
