A Way of Life
We need to be honest with ourselves and take charge of our health.
The way we define health in North America is faulty. We wait until we have a symptom, like back pain or a headache, and then we act. This is a less than optimal way to stay healthy as the majority of diseases we face are referred to as “silent killers”. The top 3 causes of death (cancer, heart disease, and stroke) are affecting more and more people at a younger age. The overwhelming change in our health has been our lifestyle, not our genes, organ function or our ability to heal.
1 in 3 Canadians will have a heart attack.
48% will be diagnosed with cancer – 24% will die
While Winnipeggers are waiting for the cure, we forget that the ability to be well has always been a part of us (the cure is inside of us).
A well functioning nervous system combined with nutrition and exercise are a big step toward a wellness based lifestyle. It has been suggested that less than 10% of your health is dictated by genetics. Your journey to great health is well within your ability to control.
We understand that health exists when every part of your body is functioning properly. True health can only occur if your brain can communicate, uninterrupted, with the rest of your body, tell it what to do, and when to do it. While the resolution of health is typically regarded as something that requires treatment or therapy from the outside in, we recognize that the best treatment is enabling the body to heal itself – from the inside out. This is our philosophy.
When your body communicates properly and you eat well and nourish your body and exercise, you have a higher likelihood of thriving. When your nervous system has damage or interference, when you eat poor quality foods, live a sedentary life and accumulate toxins, your body develops disease. Both health and disease are a process.
Health is dynamic and requires attention to the essentials that are needed to govern our health and healing. All bodily functions are controlled by the nervous system. Keeping the pathways of the nervous system clear through specific chiropractic adjustments and wellness programs, we allow the body to function and heal. In addition, our mind set, our nutrition, exercise, and the reduction of toxins in our food and environment all contribute to being the healthiest you can be.
